Charles R. Zimmerman recently retired as the vice-president of Design and Construction for the International Division of WalMart Stores, Inc. and is now owner of Global VE. Global VE is focused on worldwide value engineering and capital efficiency consulting. Mr. Zimmerman had held various Design and Construction related positions in both the US and International Divisions of WalMart since 1989. Mr. Zimmerman was focused on Walmart’s corporate energy efficiency goal of reducing the energy intensity of their buildings around the world by a further 20% by 2020 (which was exceeded in 2015). Mr. Zimmerman is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a registered professional engineer, a member of the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineers and is a past member of the advisory board for the California Energy Efficiency Center at UC – Davis and the Upper White River Foundation (Ozark Waters Watch). He currently serves on the Boards for Constant Power, Inc., the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Univ. of Arkansas’ College of Engineering, and the Campaign Arkansas Committee. In 2015, Mr. Zimmerman and his wife Susan committed to a $250,000 gift to the U of A college of engineering to support first generation college students pursuing a degree in engineering.
